The SUArt Galleries spent the summer developing new spaces and exhibitions to highlight the university extensive permanent collection. Few realize that SU holdings contain over 45,000 objects and the recent renovations will enable visitors to examine significant portions of the American and ethnographic collections. Additional permanent collection exhibitions of German Expressionist prints and 19th century hand tinted Japanese photographs will augment the featured fall exhibition, Four By Four, where members of the Syracuse visual arts community have been invited by the Galleries to develop unique exhibitions using works from the permanent collection.
The Galleries are located in the Shaffer Art Building and are open to the public Tuesday through Sunday 11:00am to 4:30pm and Thursday evenings until 8:00pm, closed Mondays. Weekend and evening visitors can park in the Q4 lot on College Place. Notify the attendant that you are visiting the Galleries and you will be directed where to park. Parking is on a space available basis and may be restricted during events held at the Carrier Dome. If spaces are not available, the attendant will direct you to the nearest lot.
